Guide to scrambling and bouldering Ringing Roger in the Peak District south of Edale.  Verdict: a really enjoyable day out to practice your scrambling and outdoor bouldering skills

Route in: get to Edale by train or car (park by station or across the road in Edale car park).  Head north through the village and then north-west via The Nab to Ringing Roger

Start point: the first rocks and wall are around OS ref SK 12467 87149

Grading: you can choose which blocks and lines you want to attempt from sub-grade 1 through grades 1 and 2 to the odd bit of grade 3

Notes: this isn’t a conventional scramble, it’s more like an outdoor bouldering adventure playground; few pitches and no route: just pick a boulder or block and have a go

End point: you can meander around, and do laps of the more enjoyable bouldering, but the rocks run out around SK 12562 87247

Route out: just retrace your approach route back to Edale
