Guide to a grade 1 waterfalls and cascades scramble on Andøya island in Northern Norway under Bjørnskinnfjellet. Summary: fine extended scramble in amazing scenery that readily fits grade 1 capabilities
Route in: park in small car park just under 1km west of the village of Bjørnskinn (lat, long: 69.00454, 15.60569); walk north along the rough road and turn right onto the path just before the beck crosses under the road; walk up the path until you feel like getting in
Start point: you could enter the water around 69.00754, 15.60985
Grading: there are several runs of grade 1 cascades / small waterfalls
Notes: I only discovered later from the free Norway map https://ut.no/kart that the beck is actually called Einarslettbekken
Warning: the weather can be severe in northern Norway and can change very rapidly: check https://www.yr.no/en
End point: the ghyll scramble ends where the beck becomes too small and flat, around 69.01014, 15.62563 having undertaken up to 1,000 ft of ascent, but it’s good to carry on hiking up to the top of Bjørnskinnfjellet
Route out: follow the main Bjørnskinnfjellet path back to the car park

Time: 10 mins from CP to start point; then 60 mins for the scramble; 25 mins back to car park from end of scramble; or 30 mins more hiking to top of Bjørnskinnfjellet and then about 45 mins to walk back from the top
Gear: drybag recommended, wetsuit helpful especially in cold conditions
Verdict: two sections of fine grade 1 scrambling separated by a poor, overgrown section; all set within stunning scenery though views are weather-dependent
Category: Standard scramble
Score: 7/10
