A 60-90 minute “water adventure” along Wadi Mujib’s Siq Trail in Jordan. Summary verdict: more like a water park than a scramble; fun so long as you know what to expect

Route in and start point: drive to the Wadi Mujib Adventure Centre about two-thirds of the way down the Dead Sea along the Jordan Valley Highway

Grading: there is nothing that difficult here. You walk upstream for about 30 minutes, using some small fixed ladders or ropes to help you over a few boulders in the way, to a waterfall at the end.  Then you go back again.  There are bored guides sitting at difficult bits who can help if you have problems

End point and route out: this is an out-and-back route so you end where you started

Time: 30 minutes to walk to the waterfall at the end of the Siq Trail; maybe an hour at most to slowly work your way back

Verdict: it’s all quite tame and there are lots of other people around.  Floating on your back, looking up the towering siq walls to the sky above was great but water levels in June 2023 were such that you can only do that for about a third of the way back and are constantly grounding yourself in the shallows.  You pay JD22 for this – take a dry bag and water shoes if you have them; else you can pay to hire at high cost.  The other trails are likely more interesting.
