Overview of the upper part of Ogden Clough from Devil’s Elbow up onto the moor above.  Summary verdict: only for an absolute beginner who was in the area

Route in: park at Longdendale Trail car park in Hadfield.  Walk along Longdendale trail until you get to a footpath sign pointing up the hill just before Deepclough Farm; zig-zag up by Higher Deepclough Farm

Start point: brook above (South-East of) the B6105 from Devil’s Elbow (OS Grid Ref: SK 04396 97112)

Grading: not in the “Scrambles in the Dark Peak” book so unrated but I’d say it’s about a 0.5.  Quite a few 3-4 foot cascades; one slightly larger one; and a set of steps.  Overgrown in many places with reeds or bracken

End point: at most, where a broken-down wall crosses (there are a few small cascades further up but probably not worth it) (OS Grid Ref: SK 04815 97049)

Route out: retrace your steps

Time: 20 mins from car park to turn-off from trail then another 15-20 mins to Devil’s Elbow; 30-40 mins to top of clough; just under 60 mins all the way down

Verdict: not a great deal to recommend it; perhaps could take a complete beginner if you were in the area
