Scrambling the upper part of Crowden Little Brook from Black Hill End to Tooleyshaw Moss.  Summary verdict: OK but there are better scrambles than this

Route in: park at Crowden car park, North of Torside Reservoir.  Walk along Hey Moss lower path for about one hour

Start point: after turning the corner past Black Hill End, descend from main path to barely-visible path by side of brook (OS Grid Ref: SE 07279 02045)

Grading: not a listed scramble in the “Scrambles in the Dark Peak” book so ungraded but a couple of 0.75 waterfalls and one 1.25 waterfall.  Note there is a 20-25 foot c.1.5 grade waterfall to the left up Meadow Clough

End point: above the final two (or one-and-a-half) waterfalls below Tooleyshaw Moor (OS Grid Ref: SE 08149 03307)

Route out: walk up onto Tooleyshaw Moor and take the footpath back to Crowden

Time: just over 60 mins to first waterfall on upper section (40 mins to the single waterfall on the lower section); 60 mins to get to the final waterfall on the brook; c.70 mins to walk back to the car park

Verdict: quite a long way to walk to access the waterfalls, they are quite spaced out, and one is difficult to climb without aid.  There are definitely better clough scrambles
