Scrambling along a lower section of Torver Beck near to Coniston in the Lake District.  Summary verdict: not recommended as too slippery and hard to access

Route in: park in/around Torver

Start point: it’s difficult to find an entry point to access the beck around Torver village

Grading: there are two grade 2+ waterfalls (one too difficult to ascend) and a couple of sets of grade ¾ cascades

Warning: accessibility of the beck in this section is dubious

End point: this section ends where the footpaths to right and left of the beck meet at a footbridge at OS Ref SD 28044 95807

Route out: walk back to Torver on path to right of beck via Scarr Head

Time: 10 mins from CP to start point; then 90 mins up the beck; then about 30 mins to walk back

Gear: wet scramble gear including buoyancy vest and helmet

Verdict: not recommended.  The surface underfoot is continuously slippery, the falls are overly difficult, accessibility is questionable, you are hemmed in by fenced farmland, and there are a lot of fallen trees over the beck, so the costs outweigh the benefits of the cascades
